Donate an energy saving stove

$20

The gift of an energy saving stove gives twice. It helps a family use half of the charcoal they would have used daily and because of this save, they are able to have an extra meal or address a critical need. It also saves trees because fewer trees will be cut for charcoal use.

Support a community garden

$Other

Our community garden helps feed the elderly, sick and orphaned children in the community of Namuwongo. These gardens are created by cleaning up former dumping sites and turning them into green spaces. Your donation will help us serve the vulnerable while creating cleaner communities.

Support a give back to earth Saturday

$Other

Every second Saturday in a month women meet to give back to the earth by making their own charcoal. It is also an opportunity for women to exchange ideas and information with other members of the community. We meet the women half way by providing half of the materials used in charcoal making and drying space for the charcoal. Your give back to earth gift will help us reach more women and save more trees.

 URBAN FARMING

We are helping urban communities make use of vacant spaces to grow vegetables. Often degraded open spaces and vacant land are used as informal waste dumpsites and are a source of crime and health problems. By turning them into productive green spaces we help improve communities’ livelihoods and make the world greener in the process. Due to rapid urbanization, the costs of supplying and distributing food to urban areas based on rural production and imports continue to hike as well as increase carbon emissions due to transportation. Growing fresh food close to consumers reduces energy spent in transport, processing and packaging.  Urban agriculture is also one of the viable options to not only help reduce our carbon footprint associated with ‘food miles’ but it contributes to healthy nutrition, food security and poverty alleviation.
